Brazilian Cheese Bread – Pão de Queijo
We take pride in our little cheese bread. It took us a long time to get the recipe so good that we only receive compliments.
Our cheese bread is suitable for vegetarians, is gluten-free, and is made with a special (and secret) blend of cheeses – so secret that even James Bond doesn’t have a chance of discovering it.
In Brazil, everyone loves cheese bread, pão de queijo, at almost any time of the day: breakfast, lunch, dinner, or as a snack. Normally it’s enjoyed with a nice fresh coffee, or sometimes cut open to make a little sandwich.
But there is one thing that is indisputable: they are so yummy that it’s impossible to have just one. And that is so very true of the cheese bread we make here at Bela Fornada.
Our Brazilian Cheese Bread is sold frozen, in packs of 16 units. Please keep them frozen, and they are best when used within two months of production.
How to cook them:
Pre-heat your over to 200℃ (or 180℃ if you have a fan oven). Place the frozen cheese breads evenly on a baking tray, or on a suitable tray lined with baking paper.
Next is the tricky part: reduce the over to 180℃ (160℃ if it is a fan oven) and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until they are lightly golden brown.
Leave for a minute or two before eating, and hopefully they are lovely and warm and crunchy.
So what goes into it?
Tapioca starch, our secret vegetarian cheese blend, top quality milk, fresh eggs, sunflower oil, butter, a bit of salt, and a lot of love.
Alergy advice:
Our cheese bread is made with tapioca starch, and so is naturally gluten-free.
Although our kitchen does handle wheat and gluten products, we take full care to ensure that our Brazilian Cheese Breads are safe for all who have wheat allergies and Coeliac disease.
